Congratulations Environmental Award Winners!

Congratulations to all the finalists and award winners for the 2023 Northland Regional Council Whakamānawa ā Taiao – Environmental Awards!

It was a privilege to be part of the awards event for the third year in a row on July 21st and help celebrate some of the passionate people and projects across Te Taitokerau. The awards are a wonderful way of publicly acknowledging some of the remarkable results of high-achieving Northland projects.

Kiwi Coast Trust was pleased to present the Kiwi Coast Outstanding Group of the Year 2023 award to the Tutukaka Landcare Coalition Trust (photo above), noting the following:

“This group is an awesome example of how a community can come together to make a real difference for the environment. Over the last two decades, Tutukaka Landcare Coalition has worked tirelessly to reduce animal and plant pests, and the results have been truly remarkable. Native species such as kiwi and pāteke are now thriving, and the local environment is healthier than ever before.
With a focus on innovation and forward thinking, they continue to expand their impact, working towards the recovery of other species and
forming strong connections with neighboring projects. This group is a true asset to the Tutukaka Coast and Te Taitokerau, and an inspiration to us all.”

A number of people and projects linked into Kiwi Coast were also recognised for their achievements at the awards:

  • Mike Camm from the Tutukaka Landcare Coalition Trust was recognised for his Outstanding Contribution to Te Taiao
