A group of 10 keen dog owners from across North Hokianga gathered on January 20th to hear from Lesley Baigent, in a much awaited “Know Your Dog” workshop hosted by St Mary’s Church.
Attendees learnt about dog’s noses and memories, how their senses affect their behaviour, and how different breeds cause some dogs to show more interest in birds. With this knowledge, Lesley also shared tips on how to control dogs, tips on training your dog and how to keep them safe and happy.
The workshop was interactive, with many participants taking the chance to ask questions and get advice.
One local dog owner commented that it was a “privilege to learn from someone who is so informed, experienced, interested and interesting”.
Another commented that despite owning dogs for over 60 years, she learnt so much about dogs that she had not been aware of. She urged others to “100% go to Lesley’s workshop if you get a chance to do it!”.
