Your next chance to see wild kiwi up close is with the Tanekaha-Hukerenui Kiwi Community Project.
Come along to hear about the work this farming community are doing to control predators and look after the local kiwi.
You will have a chance to meet the kiwi before they are released into pre-prepared burrows and learn about their unique features and what we need to do to ensure they can thrive in Northland.
The event is being hosted on a private farm. If you wish to accompany the kiwi and walk a short distance across farmland to their burrows, please wear weather-appropriate outdoor clothing and clean, sturdy shoes/gumboots.
As this is an evening release, a torch may also be handy as we walk back to the cars from the burrow site.
No dogs please.
Any enquiries, just get in touch with Ngaire the Kiwi Coast Coordinator.
