Come along and help make Whangarei Heads Weed Free!
This is a regular Wednesday morning event, so if you can’t make this one – don’t panic, come along next time!
The Devonshire/Tamaterau Reserve Weed Action group meet every Wednesday at 9.30 -12.30pm at the Reserve, and every 3rd Saturday of the month to cater to the availability of volunteers.
We have been operating for about four years and and made huge progress in restoring the reserve, which is remnant/regenerating coastal podocarp-broadleaf forest. We deal mainly with jasmine, blue morning glory, moth plant, wild ginger , and Taiwan cherry.
All volunteers are more than welcome! Training given to those with no experience.
Regular volunteers may be eligible for Growsafe and First Aid Training where appropriate.
What to bring: Sun protection, water & sturdy footwear. If you have preferred tools you are welcome to bring them. No chainsaws or machete’s please as these tools are not covered in our H&S policy.
What’s provided: Personal protective equipment, tools, herbicide & morning tea.
Meet: Car park of the Devonshire (Tamaterau) Reserve, Tamaterau, Whangarei Heads Road.
