Save the Kiwi Trust are holding a Northland Kiwi Hui on September 21st in Kaikohe.
Registrations are now open – get in quick as they close 5pm this Friday!
The Northland Kiwi Hui: Resilience through Connection will be a great opportunity to listen to presentations from experts in various fields, network with fellow kiwi conservationists, and be immersed in all things kiwi.
The current confirmed speakers and topics (subject to change) are:
- Blandy Witehira: kiwi whakapapa research
- Isabel Castro: climate change and kiwi
- Emily King: H5N1 and Kiwi Recovery Group updates
- Taoho Patuawa: kauri ora
- Ken Thomas: councils and dog control
- Dean Baigent-Mercer: the need for secondary toxins
- Lesley Baigent: trained kiwi dogs as a tool
- Neil Geerkens: kiwi and plantation forestry
- Carl Dowd: kiwi monitoring and catching techniques
Speakers will start presenting at 9am, so please arrive between 8.30am and 8.45am, to allow everyone to get seated. Presentations will wrap up by 4pm, with the option to stay on for further informal discussions over a cuppa.
