Kiwi Coast supports and links community, hapū and iwi-led conservation projects together across Northland. With iconic kiwi as the ultimate inspiration, grassroots pest control groups are connected into a regional network, amplifying ecological gains. Collaborative pest control across the landscape creates corridors for wildlife to move safely, linking isolated populations. Together we are helping the native forests, wetlands and wildlife of Te Tai Tokerau to flourish into the future.
More about Kiwi CoastStart clearing out the pests and looking after the native wildlife in your area right now. By working together, we can make a real difference!
CONTROL Stoats, ferrets and uncontrolled dogs are the main kiwi predators. Stoats kill 95% of kiwi chicks before they reach their first birthday.
LISTEN By listening to wildlife like kiwi call, we can monitor where they are, and how well they are doing.
CONNECT Talk to your neighbours, start a new pest control group or join an existing project.
The Kiwi Coast network has grown to operate at a regional scale, linking projects over 291km from Mangawhai at the southern limit of the Northland region to the Aupouri Peninsula in the Far North.

Become a kiwi sponsor - follow the real lives and adventures of wild Northland kiwi. Each kiwi is monitored remotely via a small leg-fitted radio transmitter so we can track it from a distance and is only handled twice a year for a health check and transmitter change. All sponsors receive monthly updates on each kiwis movement, activity, nesting attempts and adventures using data straight from the transmitter signals. Learn all about kiwi as you help them thrive and support Kiwi Coast.
